Our collection of PV's began in the Early 1990's when Mr Graham Vallance read an article in a classic vehicle magazine, after having just restored a 1950 Commer Superpoise he thought at the time a PV would be just the right size for him as a next project. Later that week, unbelievably and by pure coincidence he read an advert in a local paper of a PV for sale in Sutton In Ashfield, a local town, with another PV included for spares. These turned out to be LYO611 and LYO619 respectively. Both ex Home office Civil defence PV's having worked in Canterbury. Graham decided to buy both vehicles with 619 for spares only. Having got both vehicles home LYO611 was in much better condition than 619 within 2 years 611 was ready for the road. This left the other PV looking forlorn, Graham decided, given the rarity, to restore this van too. However 'restoration' turned to 'rebuild' as the body was very poor and required replacing completely with the doors and glass being salvaged. In the meantime, Graham heard of a PV chassis and engine in a field on the outskirts of Lincoln. Thinking this would be good for spares he travelled there and bought the remains. On completion of the deal he was handed the old buff logbook. Hardly believing his eyes it read LYO599. Yet another ex home office Morris Commercial PV van. This sowed the seed and the chassis was restored, the engine rebuilt having stood full of water. Meanwhile LYO619 was completed in 2007 having been rebuilt as a replica Black Maria Police van. In 2009 LYO599 was completed meaning Graham had rebuilt 2 and restored one PV. We also purchased another PV during this time - registration no FWL820 which had been a mobile advertising board in Leicester however this was soon sold on.
I'm sure you can imagine that over the years we've amassed a large amount of knowledge of the PV so feel free to contact us if you'd like to know something or need some advice.
